All of the computers in the Drilling and Fabrication Departments connect to machines running Graphical Drill/Route System 6. The Excellon MK-6 / UCB and the Pluritec Giga 8888 require DNC connections. The PDA Router has a serial, ASCII, interface. The other Excellon machines have a parallel (paper tape) interface. The TruDril 103 interface is similar to the Excellon drills (paper tape). However, the software "handshaking" l is significantly different. Jobs are created in the CAM using Drill Room File Server System. One CAM computer runs Windows 95. The other uses Windows 2000 Professional. The operating system for the Drill Room File Server is Windows 2000 Server. The Drilling and Fabrication Departments are setup as a single "Workgroup". The computers in the rest of the facility are attached to several different "Domains". There are four different file servers on the network and a T1 connection to the outside world. The MIS manager in "on call" 24/7. |
